Alekos Fassianos

Alekos Fassianos was born in Athens in 1935, where he studied Fine Arts before moving to Paris in 1960 to study lithography at the École des Beaux-Arts. Early in his career, Fassianos attracted the attention of gallerists including Paul Facchetti and Alexandre Iolas, exhibiting alongside Giorgio de Chirico and René Magritte. In 1972, he represented Greece at the Venice Biennale. In 2023, the Alekos Fassianos Museum opened in Athens in a building conceived by the artist together with architect Kyriakos Krokos.
His work is held in major public collections including the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the National Gallery of Greece in Athens.
