Anselm Reyle

Untitled. Foil and acrylic on canvas in acrylic glass box.

German artist Anselm Reyle (b. 1970) studied at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste, Stuttgart and at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste, Karlsruhe. Before settling on painting and sculpture, he briefly toyed with music and landscape design.

Reyle’s work is closely linked to Modernism, but explores, expands and reinvents its conventions employing multiple techniques and traditional media mixed with coloured foils, window displays, rich acrylic colours and pastes, automotive lacquer, and everyday items.

In 2009 Reyle became a professor in Drawing/Painting at the Staatlichen Akademie der Bildenden Künste, Hamburg, Germany. He has exhibited at numerous galleries and museums around the world including CFA Berlin and Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin, DE; Gagosian Gallery, NY, USA and Boers-Li Gallery, Beijing.
