Doormat handmade of Manila rope by interweaving the rope with a flat knot, the “prolonged knot”.
The prolonged knot is still used on classic tall ships to protect the sails from chafing against the hardware that connects the boom to the main mast.
The doormats are made on Giglio, a small Italian island in the Tyrrhenian Sea.
