Charlotte Perriand

Charlotte Perriand (1903–1999), often saluted as a pioneer and an icon of modernity, was born in Paris where she studied furniture design at Ecole de L’Union Centrale des Arts Décoratifs. In 1927 she began a decade-long collaboration with Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret in their studio in Paris, leading the design of both interiors and furnishing. At the invitation of the Japanese government, Perriand moved to Japan in 1940 where she served as a cultural advisor on industrial arts.
