Birger Kaipiainen

Birger Johannes Kaipiainen (1915-88) graduated from the Central School of Arts and Crafts of Helsinki and worked for Finnish ceramics company Arabia for more than fifty years. Known as the Master of Ceramics, he incorporated dream and fantasy elements in many of his pieces of ceramic hanging platters and tiles; with motives ranging from fairy tale forests and flowers to harlequins and fanciful female subjects.
His unique works are part of the collections at Design Museum in Helsinki, Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, Brera Gallery in Milan, Momak in Kyoto and others.
