Italian designer and architect Gio Ponti (1891-1979) graduated from the Politecnico di Milano, where he later became a professor. His buildings include the Littoria Tower in Milan and Denver Art Museum, but he also created lamps, ceramics, glassware and iconic furniture such as the Superleggera chair designed in 1957 for Cassina. He founded the architecture and design magazine Domus in 1928 and has had a significant impact on Italian design.
